Mike Massey – 9 Time World Champion

Sunday August 14, 2005 Pat and I went to Champions for our Sunday pool fix. We had the pleasure to hang out with Mike Massey!!! 9 time world champion, his latest victory at the 2005 World Games in Bottrop We have seen him compete on television and we were delighted to meet him in person this past Sunday. We asked Massey where he was from and his where abouts. His response was, I have 3 homes, where I was born – Tennessee, where I live now (I forgot) and where I will live – Heaven. Mike was very religious and talked openly about it. He signed our book and picture and added “Jesus loves us” He talked to me about how special my name was, ( I don’t remember his story, I was a little shocked) Something about there are 2 types of Angels, and I have a head start to Heaven if I have accepted Jesus into my life. We chatted for a while, he reminded me of my dad. My dad loves to talk about Jesus too. He was refreshing to talk too and a wonder to watch!

Watch this video clip of him doing a few trick shots. It was a pool hall, so it is a bit dark, but you can still see. It was SO fun to be there. My leg kept shaking in excitement and my heart was pounding. I was just so excited to see a world champion right before me!!

Pat challenged him to a game of 8ball. I think Pat would have done a bit better if the challenger immediately before would NOT have gotten a break and run and if he had 2 average length arms. For real, the challenger before him shot amazing pool, his right arm was short, maybe as long as say up to my elbow. He was a league member and shot a perfect score against Mike Massey! You go guy! So Pat was feeling the pressure. (also I bet Pat was thinking about the time when we were in high school and got his butt kicked by an amazing pool player in a wheel chair using one hand!)

I am having the urge to play pool and drink Jagermeister. yeah yeah, seems I have that urge more then the average girl. whateva! I do what I want!

I have a brand spanking new stick.. a beautiful one too! However I will not use it until I get my skill level up. Way up. I was getting pretty good there for a while, then we moved and I only played a handful of times in the last 10 months or so. So, my stick rest in its new case waiting for me. soon sticky stick stick… soon I will play with you. We watched the WPBA on television last night and I want to play like Allison Fisher! I guess I need to start from the the beginning.
