Wee Baby is reaching for us now. She is also crawling. Sitting. Pulling herself up. Such a big girl.. I am thrilled she is accomplishing so many milestones. Yet I am so heart broken that those moments have come and gone already. My mom said it would go by quick… but I had no idea. I could live in this moment for a lifetime. Sweetness everywhere I look. Here a smile, there a spit-bubble, everywhere a giggle and a squeal. Life is so sweet and I am enjoying every single moment spending it with my Wee Baby Girl.

Laughter… a baby’s laugh makes everything ok. I adore how Mariella loves everything. All she knows is happy.

The outing would not be complete with out a picture of Wee Baby and her daddy! The last picture make me so happy! It makes me cry just seeing that smile Pat is giving Mariella. He loves her so much… Daddy’s little Wee Baby.

Wee Baby has a fabulous new play area! It is safe, colorful, full of toys and big enough for the whole family to get in and play! She was playing around looking all cute in her monkey pajamas that her MeMaw gave her. I jumped in to play and tried to get a few pictures of us. Although I spend every moment of my day with Wee Baby, I don’t have many pictures of us together. Whaaaaat? She is 7 and 1/2 months old and I only have like a handfull of us together. Crazy I know. I want to get some more pics of us and will try more frequetnetly to capture some mommy daughter moments.

Mariella, seriously…. you make me so happy. So much beauty in the world when I see your sweet smile!

Being a mom is different than I imagined it… It is brighter, better and more beautiful than anything I have ever experienced. I didn’t know a love like this could possibly exist. How can a spitbubble make me cry? Or little toes make my heart melt. I smile so hard when I see her reaching for something small, like a polk-a-dot on her pants, she uses her index finger and points and scrapes as if trying to pick it up. I adore when she pushes herself off her belly and her right hand is turned inward and upside down…

I don’t have any cake.  Last time I had cake I was totally tipsy and Jacob and I ate some delicious ice cream cake..  I ate a lot of it too!  Good times, good times . Thanks Jacob!

Mariella went to sleep at 7pm, and I soon followed at 8pm.   Pat trailed in third and came to bed at 9 or so.  He snuggled with me like a good husband!  I said hold me tighter, get closer, wrap me up in your warmth.   We were so snugly and I couldn’t help but try to get closer.  It was like I couldn’t get close enough.  It was impossible to get any closer!  lol But we pretty much slept in a ball together until 12:30 when Mariella got up and wanted to eat.   I felt better by this time.  Mariella went back to bed around 1:30 and I switched sides with Pat and we snuggled up again.   I don’t think I moved an inch until the alarm went off at 5am.

Pat and I were always pretty good at sleeping in small spaces together.   We shared a twin size bed for years. Even recently in MD, we stayed on a twin size bed. When visiting Louisiana, I remember Pat and I sleeping on Darlene’s black sofa in her old place on Royce.  We sleep on a twin size bed when we visit Faith and Eban in NC…  well unless he wants to sleep with the dog, then I am booted out!  LOL

Anyway, the point is that I love to snuggle up with my husband.  Really close.  For hours.   I want that closeness… I don’t want to get away….  hold me and make me feel better!  And he did like he always does.  Last night went too fast, I couldn’t get close enough… or it didn’t seem long enough.  Although it was hours and hours… it felt like minutes.

So three times I get a sick feeling in my stomach after eating chocolate.  I wonder what the hell is up with that?

Well… scared to use the mist too.. I let a couple days go by since it wasn’t affecting her, I just thought she would sneeze it out or something. (which she did once before)

It is morning… 9ish… I am holding Wee Baby in the kitchen heating up a bottle. It is quiet and we just woke up. The bottle is almost done, I open the kitchen drawer to get a towel so I can wipe the steam off the bottle. I grab the towel as I was talking to Mariella, “good morning sugar poo!” ” did you have a good nap?” She went to talk and make some morning ohhs and ahhhs and as she did, some snotty stuff must have went in her throat. She did an eyes closed – noses scrunched – mouth open – gaggy thing – and she didn’t take a breath. My immediate response was to reach for the saline mist to squirt up there to loosen the snot so she could swallow it or cough it up.. ? As I reached for the saline mist, I closed the kitchen drawer with my hip, I caught her little foot it the drawer. So now she can’t breath and she is flailing her arms and legs all over the place because her mommy hurt her foot and she still needs to swallow or cough up a lump of snot.

I have the mist, pop off the clear top and do you see that little white top?? I tried to remove it too. I pulled… I pinched… I grabbed a steak knife and tried to slice it off.. Mariella is still jerking and flailing all over the place… “damn this plastic is thick” one handed, trying to use a knife, too risky, I got halfway through the cap.. it is now jagged and sliced up. “this is f**king ridiculous!” I throw the knife across the counter… back to the towel drawer to get the scissors… I chopped the tip off with the scissors.

Finally I got the damn cap off!!!

Freaked out, scared, using saline for the first time ever (for myself or baby) I give the bottle a test squirt. I pressed the trigger and saline shot up and hit the ceiling! “OH MY GOD What the hell? this is not right! Saline mist MY ASS!” arghhhhhhhhhh helppppppppppppppp meeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!

I have some saline drops in her bedroom…. so I run down the hallway to her room… laid her on her changing table… and successfully put a few drops in each nostril. By this time, I think all the flailing and jerking movements from me running down the hallway knocked the snot down and out of the way. She was happy and content laying there, and I was in tears from all the terror and chaos of the last 60 seconds.

You probably already know that there is no “white cap” on the saline mist bottle. The way you see it is the way it is supposed to be. In my panic, I thought I had to cut the top off to release the saline solution. You know, like cutting the tip off of a tube of super glue, or a rubber silicon tube. My brain just thought, get the white cap off so the spray will come out!

I can laugh now! So can Pat, he nearly busted a gut when he came home and pressed the trigger on the saline mist bottle and saw the saline shoot up 6 feet.

I been feeling pretty good ~ some days a little blah… but I feel that is because I been procrastinating on a few things…. so I am getting it together this weekend to have a productive weekend and a productive several weeks until Wee Baby Girl is here. Mee Maw has been here visiting for the last couple few weeks and she has been a big help around the house and cooking for us and all that wonderful stuff that mommies do! Next week we are going to finish Wee Baby’s room, so I can take pictures and post how cute her room is!

Pat has been super wonderful. Like always. He still freaks out when he feels Wee Baby Girl wiggling around in my belly, but he is getting a little less creeped out and a little more fascinated as the days go by! hahahaaa Pat, I love you so much! Oh and tomorrow we attend our first baby class! Gotta bring my favorite pen and notebook!

Your Body
Your mind may not be anywhere near ready for your baby to arrive but your body is already making preparations. One of the ways it’s getting ready is by “practicing” for labor in the form of Braxton Hicks contractions. Luckily, these are generally painless, although somewhat annoying as they can occur frequently (the middle of the night, during an important meeting, while you’re trying to focus on Access Hollywood, etc).

Braxton Hicks contractions feel like a sudden tightening of your uterus. This is just a little preview of what real contractions will feel like. They usually start to become noticeable around the eighth month and can become very strong by the end of your pregnancy.

While you can’t get rid of Braxton Hicks contractions, there are some things you can do to make yourself more comfortable, like gentle exercise (such as walking) or taking a warm, relaxing bath. Calgon, take me away. …

Your Baby
From this week on, your baby will continue to gain around ½ pound a week until shortly before birth (even though it may feel like a whole lot more with every step you take). Other highlights this week:

Due to increasing space constraints, your baby’s arms and legs stay drawn up close to the body now, known as the fetal position (oh, so that’s where that name came from!). Plus, your baby can now process information from all five senses—so she’ll be all set to smell the pureed peas, taste them, feel them as she mashes them into her hair, hear you crack up and then see the flash as you grab the camera to snap picture after picture.

By now, your baby’s lungs are the only system not fully mature. And by mature, we’re not saying that the rest of your baby’s systems are mature enough to be out past 10 PM with the neighborhood hooligan, just that her lungs need a little bit more time to bake before they can kick it in the outside world.

Your baby weighs about 3½ pounds and measures a little over 16 inches, about the same length as that miniskirt you used to wear (and will again someday!).

Finding new mom friends is a little bit like dating. You need to actively seek them out. And while it may seem daunting meeting new people, chatting with your baby all day can get pretty lonely. But, like dating, one of the easiest ways to find new friends is online:

Search ParentsConnect Local for a parenting community or playgroup and arrange to meet up in person. This could also be a great resource during your pregnancy, since these groups often have gently used baby gear to sell or trade.

You may need to seek out new, equally round friends, but it’s your inner posse that is your support group right now. So get a group together and go out for drinks, dinner or dessert to dish about everything other having a baby.

We got married in the year Nineteen ninety four.  Holy Shit Batman, that makes FIFTEEN YEARS!

Dear Pat,

Thank you for loving me.  Giving you heart to me.  I am so blessed to be sharing my life with you.   With our daughter on the way, this 15 year anniversary marks a big one for us!  Hugs and all of my love to you and our new little family.  I am looking forward to making new traditions and continuing old ones.  May God continue to bless our lives and our Wee Baby Girl.

The 15 year traditional anniversary gift is crystal and the modern is watches.   I say we shopping for watches this month!    and well since we don’t have any wine glasses ~ how about each a crystal wine glass?  Oh or what about a crystal scotch decanter ~   ohhh ahh that sounds lovely!

I shared my hand made diary last year ~  but damn it, it is so cool that I have our first boyfriend/girlfriend adventure written down on paper!  lol   So I wanted to share again.

Wee Baby Girl is moving around quite a bit and she startles me constantly.  I am not used to her moving about sporadically ~  I literally jump almost every time she moves abruptly.   I scare Pat too ~ poor thing, he is like stop scaring me!  But I can’t help but jump!    ohh the joys of Wee Baby growing inside my belly!

This morning I have been feeling some tightness in my lower ab area.  I had some water and laid on my left side for a bit and I feel better now!  It is an unusual feeling to be pregnant ~ slightly wondrous and slightly scary ~ awesome and weird ~  all sorts of craziness in the brain and in the body.    I feel pretty pregnant now!  I love our Wee Baby Girl!

Your Baby
As the Big Day nears, your baby is getting ready to go towards the light at the end of the tunnel (the tunnel being the birth canal, the light being the one the doctor is shining directly into it so she can see what the heck she’s doing). Other highlights this week:

Your baby’s eyes are partially open now and can blink. Truly superior babies can actually wink. (OK, there is no way to prove that, but it’s fun to imagine, no?) Your baby can also now become a shiny, happy person as she has begun having rapid eye movement (Get it? REM? Shiny, happy person?? We’ll be here all week.)

Her eyes have color now, too. It may not be the color she ultimately ends up with, especially if they’re light gray or blue. The eyes typically don’t settle on a final hue until nine months after baby is born. So when your mother-in-law says that the baby has her eyes, you can politely inform her that they’ll most likely change soon. Sorry.

Your babe is downright chubby compared to a few weeks ago. She is about 15 inches long, about the length of an amusement park cinnamon-sugar-coated churro (yum!), and weighs 2 to 3 pounds.

Lucky 22! I was born on the 22nd and this is my 22nd week of carrying Wee Baby Girl around town.

Besides the weight gain and feeling WBG in my tummy, everything is “normal” I only had the two cravings, cookie and then root beer… I was looking forward to some crazy cravings, but I am not having them. I might just come up with some crazy concoctions just for fun!

Your Mini’s hands have grown bigger and stronger and the nerve endings in her fingers have developed her sense of touch. She’s in there testing out her newfound abilities by touching her face and grabbing the umbilical cord. Other cool developments:

You’re already raising a little Einstein. Your baby’s brain is developing at a clip this week and will continue to do so until she’s five years old (so load up on the Omega 3)!

Baby’s hair is now a short, bright white crop (Billy Idol, eat your heart out!). No matter what color it will end up—red, blonde, black—all babies’ hair lacks pigment at this point.

Your baby has started growing taste buds and may be able to detect strong flavors in the amniotic fluid. If you could see inside, you might catch her sticking out her tongue for a taste and then grimacing, a sign that perhaps you should chill on the chili powder.

Your baby now weighs almost a pound and measures almost 11 inches from her head to her heel, which is how the Stretch Armstrong in your uterus will be measured from here on out. Up ’til now your baby’s legs were curled tight up against her torso, so she was measured from her head to her bottom (or crown to rump) and not head to toe. This week your mini is about as long as a package of Oreos and as heavy as a large bag of tortilla chips. Who’s hungry?

Wee Baby Girl was pretty active during the photos, it took over an hour for the technician to grab the 4 pictures she needed for the radiologist! Everything looks fine, they found her ankles and got the picture of the heart valve they were looking for on the previous ultrasound! I really wanted to take a video clip, but I was not allowed… bummer.. I wanted to show everyone how she was playing in there!
