sending goodness

Sending my love and prayers to everyone who got to know Gustav.

Terrebonne Parish is still under 24 hour curfew, and they are not allowing anyone back to the parish until Friday at noon at the earliest, and they are probably pushing it back several days. The water is contaminated, no electricity for so many, its so difficult right now for so many people.  Everyone wants to go home, but it is just not safe enough to return.  Be patient everyone…  and be patient on the roads traveling home, and I hope you arrive safe and your home is safe too.

hugs and love to everyone affected by Gustav

There is a site ~ hurricane Gustav Resources ~ that is full of info about the parishes.  They are receiveing so much traffic, they have a site for Hanna too, Hurricane Hanna Resources.

So many people are out of power across Louisiana, Check out this map of Louisiana, it shows the parishes and percentage of power outages.

  1. My word that sucks! Can't they clear the roads faster than that? Do you know if Jimmie has electricity yet? Did he have enough water?

    • Hey Faith! not sure about Jimmie, maybe Kellie can update us when she reads this. Last I heard, he didn't want to eat, so he wouldn't have to go to the bathroom.. haha

no water and no electricity equals a hot mess.

Darlene, Randy and Huey are headed to press their luck to get into the parish. (not Darlene's idea) I just talked to Darlene, they are just 40 miles into the trip and major traffic.. she was going like 5 mph. And she still has around 130/150 miles to go before she reaches Lafourche or Terrebonne parish.

I just saw on HTV that power could be out for WEEKS! 4-6 weeks.

Gustav did a number on those power lines, they are down (literally down) all over the city. What a mess. BUT at least we still have a parish, if Gustav would have hit at category 4 – well, lets not think about that.

  2. Just talked with Darlene, they are about 70 miles from Morgan City ~ they left at noon and its right at 8 pm. Its typically a 4 hour drive.. so traffic time is more than double.

Its night time and after curfew.. so we will see what happens when they get to the parish lines.

makes me nervous…. I don't know where they are going to sleep tonight…. ??

Also looks like there is an alcohol ban for Terrebonne and Lafouche parish.

  3. They got through.. they had to talk to the trooper 3 times, I think Randy convinced him to let them in since he is a manager of that company and needs to contact his people.

Darlene was in front of her home just as i called her.. she said things look a disaster, but can't really tell, it so dark.. she is in the country so its really really dark.

she is calling me later once she gets inside and can see whats going on.

I am really happy they are not sleeping on the side of the road tonight.. but really not happy they are surrounded by darkness in the boondocks with no electricity and water. Just the mosquitoes and the moonlight.

  4. Mom, Kellie, Derrick and the girls are home in Houma. Safe, they just received power, however no water yet.

Amy, Stephanie and Stephen arrived home safe, no power yet, and minimal damage.

Terri is back home, no power and minimal damage despite the tree that fell on the house.

  5. there goes the power again… no one I know in Louisiana has power. :(

momma'n'dem were waiting in line to get some water and hopefully some ice.

Its HOT down there! Mom said its a mess still with trees, power lines and garbage.

  6. Update: It's Sunday . . . and we got electricity two nights ago and cable/internet/phone today! Wooo hoooo! I feel civilized again! Still a tree on the house though. Jeremy is itch'n to take it down, but I want to wait to see if the parish will do it. The tree was growing on the servitude, so the parish may do it. Jeremy goes back to work tomrorrow, Eryc goes back to school Wednesday, if Ike stays away. I'm still looking for a job. Thank you Angel for your website and postings. Love and blessings to all the family.
